What better way to kick off a new blog (old blog still here) than with the beginning of my summer travels?
My sister and I left a little before 6am on June 7th. We drove fourteen hours to St Louis. To be honest, no, it wasn't torturous. We actually got used to driving and joked about how we weren't going to know what to do with ourselves once it was time to stop.
The next day was only about eight hours of driving to Oklahoma City, where we were hosted by one of my sister's friends. We went out and about and toured the city, stopping at the bombing memorial.
If you ever find yourself in the area, go at dusk or dawn- the perfect time to appreciate a peaceful setting where once such chaos occurred. It was an very unexpectedly moving experience.
"We come here to remember those who were killed, those who survived, and those changed forever. May all who leave here know the impact of violence. May this memorial offer comfort, strength, peace, hope, and serenity."
